  • From the comfort of my recliner

Well here we are on a Tuesday relaxing on the new recliner with a view out over the balcony, not much of a view – pitch dark outside at the mo.

So what has been happening over the past few days? Well I guess ‘tis the finally pieces to the jigsaw. This includes the purchasing of the final pieces of furniture, including the tv, the two bedside tables, the coffee table and a few odds and sods from Ikea (yes sadly I gave in).

The weather I must has say continued to be far fantastic. It is, admittedly rather cold in the evenings, though is now 10pm and I am sitting here in t-shirt. Today was another “heck sunglasses - crikey the sun is bright” day. And today came the recliner and the TV and was built the TV stand. Yesterday was the hire of a Nissan X-trail, very impressive and nice smooth drive for the sorting out of sofa and purchase of heavy items including TV stand and large items such as ironing board. Thankfully Ikea was not too busy on a Monday morning! Dropped the car off this morning and bought the Budget lady some pain au chocolat for being so fab – it was manic there yesterday morning and was well chuffed to have gor the x-trail even though I had not booked it ($60 all in - £30 for the day).

Monday afternoon was spent sorting out jobs applications (am looking at public sector mainly and organisational development type roles of which there are quite a few around), sorting through various e-mails and generally having a look at what is happening in the world. Can’t remember much about the weekend, still in pain after overdoing it a bit at the gym on Sunday morning but was excellent to be there again – still much the same in many respects!

Went to see the Sex in the City film yesterday evening with L. $7 for a ticket – that is £3.50 for a 6.30 in the evening film in town! And the film was excellent – it did have its slower moments – but I thought it was very funny especially the energetic little dog and his favourite hobby – how we laughed.

Glad have finally come to the end of sorting out the apartment – was a major exercise but am pleased with how it is finally coming together and looking forward to seeing the final masterpiece. Just have to get a screwdriver for when the bed frame arrives next week. Still loving the aerobed too.

Need to sort out paperwork too. Got myself a PO Box today for redirected post. Thought would be better as the postboxes we have outside are pretty small and there is also something cool about having an address PO Box 465, South Yarra, Melbourne. And we like cool (as long as the sun is shining at the same time!)

Also looking at doing a bit of volunteering. Went to see a guy today about a role. Was quite an interesting organisation, looking at expanding its activity quite significantly in the coming months and there are quite a few roles in there which would certainly light my fire – am going to do a bit more research into the organisational and the environment in which it operates so am a bit more geared for meeting some of the other key players next week.

Still maintaining the old to do list – which has about 60 items on it at the moment – but none are mega urgent, though I should sort out 10 or so on it. It has proved its worth as an excellent aide memoire over the past few weeks and I think it will be around for some time to come.

Well am beginning to flag a bit now – not helped by the fact that have got Jose Gonzalez’ dulcet tones flowing out of itunes – will sign off here. Until the next time :)
